Many Blessings

Writer: Ellie J WoodingEllie J Wooding

OOPS - This post was due to be posted on 2nd July. But Somehow, It scheduled itself for 2nd July 2024

It was a delightful day, as Revd. Evie celebrated and presided at her first communion as a priest. - what a blessing!

We started by singing 'I, the Lord of Sea and Sky.' Canon Beverley took the deacon role, and lead us in the first part of the service.

The choir sang one of John Rutter's many blessings, on this occasion 'Go Forth Into The World in Peace.' Whilst singing this, I was watching the conductor, and in the background, I could see Evie, with a delighted smile on her face. To me, singing this blessing was upon Evie and her ministry!

Her Friend and Colleague, Revd George gave a wonderful sermon, and a wonderful insight into Evie's Ministry and what amazing things she will be doing.

We sang 'Trust and Obey'' before Evie stood behind that Altar and with the most proudest smile I have ever seen on her face, she presided over the Eucharist with conviction, reverence and in no other words... Perfection. - its as if she has been doing it all her life!

During the notices, we gave her a huge round of applause for her excellence before singing the closing hymn.

Then her arm went up as she gave us all a blessing as we went on our way. - Out to the churchyard for a glass of fizz and piece of cake.

The day before was very special too. It was Mr and Mrs Woodward's wedding. a very special occasion shared with very special friends!

The weekend's special events had inspired me... Could I write 'A Blessing' of my own?
